Thorsten Roth is a New York–based photographer and director operating at the intersection of fashion, luxury, beauty, and cultural narrative.

Born in Germany and shaped by Paris and New York, his work moves between precision and instinct—where structure meets improvisation, and elegance carries an edge.

Roth studied visual communication and photo-film design at FH Bielefeld, the Bielefelder Schule—an offshoot of the Bauhaus movement. He began his career in Paris, working with Condé Nast and leading studios at the intersection of fashion and advertising.

His work spans international publications and campaigns for clients including Calvin Klein,
Porsche Design, and Saks Fifth Avenue,
alongside leading global agencies.

His portrait series of American jazz musicians, photographed in Paris, is part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

Roth’s work reflects a transatlantic perspective—rooted in European culture and driven by the energy of New York.
