Thorsten Roth is a New York City based Photographer and VideoDirector.

Thorsten grew up in Germany where he studied Visual Communication/Photo-Film-Design at the FH Bielefeld "Die Bielefelder Schule", an off-spring of the Bauhaus Movement.

After assignments in photojournalism and advertising he moved to Paris where he started to work in the renowned Pin Up Studios and for for Condé Nast France. There and later in New York he worked with some of the top-notch fashion, advertising and editorial- photographers of that era among them Patrick Demarchelier, Oliviero Toscani, Steve Hiett, Arthur Elgort.

Thorsten’s creative style has been molded by his multi-cultural experience pillared on German expressionism, French impressionism and American pragmatism. 

His work has been published in many publications of international Media Companies such as Condé, Hearst and Time Life and he has worked on a variety of advertising assignments, including Calvin Klein, Time Life, Porsche Design partnering with big advertising-

agencies such as Young & Rubicam, Loewe, Deutsch and Sapient Nitro and has collaborated on assignments for a variety of fashion, life-style and street-wear clients.

Thorsten’s portrait-portfolio of famous American Jazz-Musicians that he photographed during his 12 year stay in in Paris was honored with admission to the prestigious Smithsonian National Museum Of American History in Washington, D.C..
