Thorsten Roth is a New York based Photographer and VideoDirector.
Thorsten grew up in Germany where he studied Visual Communication/Photo-Film-Design at the FH Bielefeld also known as "Die Bielefelder Schule", an off-spring of the Bauhaus Movement. During that time Thorsten started to work in photojournalism and advertising.
The next important step was the photo-assistance for Condé Nast France and the renowned Pin Up Studios in Paris, then later in New York where he worked with some of the top-notch fashion, advertising and editorial- photographers of our time (among them Patrick Demarchelier, Oliviero Toscani, Steve Hiett, Arthur Elgort et al).
Thorsten's work has been published in many publications of international Media Companies such as CONDE NAST, HEARST and TIME LIFE. He has worked on a variety of advertising assignments, including CALVIN KLEIN, TIME LIFE MUSIC, PORSCHE DESIGN partnering with big advertising-agencies such as YOUNG & RUBICAM, LOEWE, DEUTSCH and SAPIENT NITRO and has collaborated on assignments with a variety of fashion and life-style websites.
In 2003 the SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTE in Washington D.C accepted T.Roths portfolio of the portrait-work of famous American Jazz-Musicians produced in Paris.
An exhibition of his transcending photographs of boxers took place in the world-famous boxing Gym Gleason's in Brooklyn NY. The boxing-brand EVERLAST featured him in their Magazine and he himself stays a practitioner of the "Sweet Science".
Thorsten produced the photography and directed the video for JOAN OSBORNE's album "Bring It on Home" which earned a Grammy Nomination.
