How are you not tempted to look at Thorsten Roth's editorial "Bare Essentials" shoot that he just did for WhatsWear? And if you haven't yet, do yourself a favor and check out the luscious shoot. I was able to sit down and interview him on his sexy shoot, what inspires him, and what growing up in Germany was like. Read on below to find out the background story:

KW: So, name some artists, ideas that inspired you for this shoot?

TR: Well, that is an easy one; I have to name myself! I shot a similar but a little different story last year. But that shoot was just with high heels, so for this assignment I was dying to progress and we included handbags into the
styling. Haha. I hope that at one point I actually end up photographing a fully dressed model for Whatswear. But as you know, good things take a bit of time, haha.

KW: How did you make the model feel comfortable during this daring shoot?

TR: Nothing particular; was there any reason for being uncomfortable?

KW: I guess not haha. There's a lot of skin showing in this shoot, what kinds of retouching did you have to do?

TR: First of all I would like to thank my make-up artist Martha Friedlander and my hair-stylist Mylo Carrion. They did an amazing job particularly Martha with her body-make-up. Then I worked with an outstanding retoucher to perfect the images, Ro Santi-Esteban. Her great talent and
sensibility for body-shapes and skin-tones were the icing on the cake. In general I follow my practical philosophy to do as much as possible in front of my camera. This includes everything; light, hair, make-up, styling etc. It might appear old school and more demanding to the team but for me it works and meets the best standards. At the end of the day this workflow translates into a higher quality and best results on every level.
